Where it fits, and where it doesn’t

It is a good saddle and still-hunting day pack when you carry sticks or poles on the outside. The gray geometric pattern works best in late-season gray timber and rocky terrain. In green early-season woods, the army green version or a woodland pattern will blend better. The shell is weather-resistant, not waterproof, so in heavy rain add a pack rain cover. Field tips

• Use the side sleeves for long, light items such as shooting sticks or poles, and strap them at two points so they don’t swing.
