Hunting Backpack Orange Waterproof Rain Cover

Description

A pack rain cover is the cheapest way to keep a hunting backpack’s contents dry when a squall moves in. This cover slips over your pack in seconds, seals around the edge with an elastic cord and cord lock, and packs back into its own attached stuff sack when the weather clears.

What stands out

• Coated synthetic fabric that blocks rain, sleet and ground moisture
• Elastic perimeter and cord lock hold it snug on both small day packs and bulky loads
• Drapes over external straps, bow holders and rifle scabbards
• Stores in an attached stuff sack, so it doesn’t get lost
• Nine colors, including blaze orange and a muted camo

Good to know

A blaze orange cover makes you easier to spot while you walk in, but it does not replace the blaze orange clothing many states require during firearm seasons. Those rules usually apply to your hat and upper body, so check your state’s regulations. A cover keeps rain off the outside of a pack. It won’t protect gear if the pack is dropped in water, so for boat and marsh hunts pair it with a dry bag or choose a roll-top pack like the roll-top waterproof hunting backpack.

The cover is sold by color, not size. If you’re not sure it will fit a very large expedition pack, send us your pack’s dimensions before you order.

Field tips

• Keep the cover in an outside pocket or its stuff sack clipped to a strap so you can reach it before your pack gets soaked.
• After a wet hunt, hang the cover and the pack to dry separately so moisture isn’t trapped between them.
• In wind, pull the cord lock tight and tuck loose straps under the cover so it doesn’t flap and spook game.
