Good Hunting Backpacks: Coyote Brown Tactical Sling Pack

Description

This tactical sling pack keeps your essentials in front of you without taking the pack off. Swing it around to grab shells, a face mask or a snack, then swing it back. The body is 600D polyester, and it comes in brown, black and two camouflage options.

What stands out

• 600D polyester with MOLLE webbing on the front and both sides
• Padded, adjustable sling with a quick-release buckle, worn on either shoulder
• External bottle pocket with a cinch closure
• Main compartment with organizer sleeves for ammunition, a GPS, a headlamp and calls
• Concealed-carry pocket for a sidearm, where carrying one is legal for you
• Padded back panel and a low-profile shape that slips through thick cover

Where it fits, and where it doesn’t

It is ideal in tight spaces such as pit blinds, layout boats and cattails, and on short whitetail and scouting trips. A single-shoulder sling isn’t meant for heavy loads or long hikes. For a two-shoulder pack with the same MOLLE approach, see the coyote brown modular MOLLE backpack. For a sling that also carries a bow or rifle, see the convertible bow and rifle sling.

Field tips

• Keep the most-used items in the outer pocket so you can reach them with the pack swung to your front.
• If you use the concealed-carry pocket, follow your state’s carry laws and hunting regulations for sidearms.
• Shorten the strap so the pack sits high and tight. A low sling bounces on the walk.
