Olive Drab XL Tactical Backcountry Hunting Frame Backpack

Description

This hunting frame backpack is a top-loading expedition pack for three- to seven-day trips. The main compartment closes with a drawstring under an oversized lid with dual buckles, and the lid gives you overflow room for a rain shell or extra layer. Despite the olive drab name, the current color options are ACU, CP and Jungle patterns.

What stands out

• Frame construction for hauling camp gear, food and meat
• Top-loading main bag with a drawstring and oversized buckled lid
• Three-tier front pocket system for navigation, first aid, ammunition and layers
• MOLLE strip and a long side pocket that can take a rifle scabbard or bow carrier
• Heavy-duty nylon with straps and buckles sized for gloved hands

Where it fits, and where it doesn’t

This is not a small pack. It suits elk hunts in steep timber, wilderness deer seasons and deep-country trips where you stay out for days. For stand hunting or day trips it is too big. Pick something like the army green tactical daypack instead. For a solid-color framed pack with more external pockets, compare the military-style hunting backpack with frame.

Field tips

• Use the lid for things you need through the day, such as a rain shell, snacks and a map, so the drawstring stays closed.
• Load your sleeping bag at the bottom and heavy food and water in the middle against the frame.
• Practice loosening and tightening the lid buckles with gloves on before the trip.
